Serenity

Azra is physically, emotionally, mentally, psychologically and spiritually exhausted. Azra needs a holiday like the earth needs the rain. Azra longs to immerse herself in calming, turquoise and aqua waters and feel the sand beneath her feet give way as she walks through the gentle waves lapping to the shore with the cool breeze caressing her face. Azra wants to feel the grains of soft, white sand slipping through her fingers while she basks in the warmth of the sun. Azra wants to smile up at the sapphire and cerulean sky and taste the wisps of fresh salty ocean on her lips...to feel the moisture glaze her skin. Azra longs to lounge about langourously on a white hammock amidst the rustling leaves of palm trees and to dine on fresh tropical fruit displayed in vivacious colours. Azra wants to smell the promise of long warm nights beneath the stars in the sultry air, filled with the laughter and joys of days gone by spent with good company. Azra needs to feel the world dissipating around her whilst watching the sun dissolve languidly on the horizon, her legs slowly swinging back and forth off the hammock to graze the cool sand below. Azra yearns for freedom, peace and serenity.

  6. Walking along the sands of a local beach once, I realized how therapeutic the sea and the sands are. The sounds of waves crashing in a cascading manner is just not another sound, it is quite distinctive. What I tried to understand when I stood there with open arms, letting the sand with the waves entwine with my toes, was why the beach seemed so inviting. Then it came as a revelation; the sound of the sea is not just a sound. It’s not like the whispering trees of a rain forest where the crickets chirp or the sound of birds singing when the dawn breaks in, it is not like the lake where the only sound is the water falling. No, the sea and the sand are much more powerful. It is the volume with which the harmony is blown towards us, the sea and sea winds takes over my mind and soul. Once there, you are possessed and filled with these sounds to the existence of nothing else. With thoughts cleansed and soul relieved the dream you thought was inappropriate once makes the most sense.
    am i going insane?

  9. Trin, DD, TCQ & Emmy - Feel free to join me on my quest for bliss...away from beauracracy, commercialism and everything else in the modern world (well except the shower and a good toilet lol).

Kay & Nooj - Look, some of those guys are going to have to be nice because I want to eventually get married on the island and have little island babies...islets lol :D

    Speedy - Yeah I know.

KS - You have to join us! Bring a typewriter with, theres no guarantee that there'll be electricity for the laptop.

Seher - Insanity is day to day life in the capitalst drudgery...Island life is bliss :) The ocean has healing properties, I believe that. It can quench the despair of any worn out soul.

Mubi - I wish we had the sea here in Johannesburg too...but the only way that will happen is if global warming increases to the extent that the ocean swallows most of our East coast...and since theres bound to be too much devastation that will come with that, I'd prefer going to an island in the middle of the ocean instead :D
