Basking in the Sun

It's been a crazy couple of weeks - the kind where I find myself working long hours every day, for long stretches at a time. I was lucky in that I eventually got a break last weekend and managed to go to Muscat, Oman.

And WOW, it really surpassed all my expectations. Like I said on Instagram, it's a true jewel in the crown of the Middle East. It is spectacular, immaculate, perfectly manicured, and exquisitely authentic right down to it's teeth. It's cleaner than any city I've ever seen. The air is balmy and sweet, yet crystal clear - an element often lacking in the dusty deserts of KSA.

Muscat, it's capital, is wrapped seductively around the coast, winding herself protectively around various mountain ranges. Muscat is also packed with Europe's elite and hoardes of Emiratis, which is quite surprising. So while most people are wasting their time and money in the UAE or the French Rivera, they are sipping their cocktails leisurely, basking in the warm sun. Here are just a few pics:

It was well worth the visit :)

  1. Looks amazing. But is it a place you can live? (political stability, etc)

    1. Well, it's more politically stable than KSA is at the moment. The only thing about Oman is that it is very expensive. The Omani Riyal is around ZAR36. As for the prices of things, it's more or less on par with KSA prices (and KSA is more expensive than ZA when it comes to food, water, clothes and shoes etc.)

  2. Looks like an absolutely lovely trip!
